Greece's dark metal act is back with their fourth full length album. And guess what? It rocks! You don't believe me? Well, just take a listen and take what the boys introduce you; their new sound.
There's a couple of words to describe Nightfall's new sound: heavy 'n' raw, plus as thick as worst fucking fog! Boys came to Finland to record this album, in the middle of winter. Greece's nights were too hot, huh?!? Anyways, 'Lesbian Show' includes nine tracks. The title track starts the album, being quite simple and bloody rocking tune! Second highlight, 'Aenaon', has unbelievably heavy riff going on through the song. And all songs continue in vein of those two tunes: heavy, rocking, quite simple... Heavy metal is now a huge part of Nightfall's music. The ending track 'Lashed August Reign' is closer to mystical style of previous Nightfall releases, easily lifting spirits to the the pantheonic heights. Take older Nightfall, drop the more mystical and classical influences, and mix it with 'Amok' (1995) era Sentenced, or Cryhavoc's rocking style metal, and you may get what I mean. Well, Gorefest, for example, did this kind of change too, but Nightfall sticked to darker side no matter how rocking it got. One minus point is beginning of track 'The Fleshmaker': One bloody awful lead guitar in the beginning of the song! But it gets soon better so... Vocals are growled with very deep throat voice, with very bad English pronunciation (heh, once again Cryhavoc comes to my mind... As well as ex-Sentenced honey-throat Taneli Jarva), as Efthemis Karadimas narrates his own poems. This album is full of good metal songs, and bizarre lyrics and booklet also.
I don't know how this one fits for the fans of older material of Nightfall, though, but I like this new sound more than the older stuff. And guess what? That's suits me!

"It was a decade ago": It's the 10th anniversary for 'Lesbian Show'. Anyways, today, totally at random I picked this CD out from the shelf and decided to give it a spin. Having not listened to it for fucking years. This is how it just goes, when there's soooo much great music around. But I'm happy I picked this fucker up, as this really rocks! Nothing fancy, just raw and unclean rockin' heavy dark metal, which haven't aged at all. The same, not very high but still a good rating fits it as it fitted back in the day. Honorably, Lane (11th of July 2007).
