I was familiar with this Danish death metal band's 2nd abum, 'Dejected in Obscurity' (1998), and never liked it. Well, this third one was pretty honoured in many a review, so I thought I should give it a try after all. And what happened?!

After unadventurous "atmospheric" intro, 'Berzerker Legions' gets fast. It's constant blast beats and fast double kick drum beats all around, with ultra-fast to mid-paced riffage. Yep, the songs are way too similar, too darn unvarying. Plus, the riffs are just something you've heard so many times before, on hundreds of Swedish and European death metal platters, and why not on some Deicide albums, too. There are no guitar solos, by the way. Vocals are low growl, and pretty capable they are too. Other performances are very competent throughout. Lyrics are about demons from Nordic mythology attacking Christianity. Soundwise this is pretty trebly. Low end is heavy, but "flapping", so it's too distorted.

If you like your death metal fast, then this could suit for your tastes, but I warn you once again: There is nothing new and nothing too good either. It just goes in one ear and comes out the other. Multiple spins didn't change that opinion. Speed and good performance alone don't a good record make, it also needs good songs.
