Just like Finland's Silent Voices, newcomers Reversion play heavier than your usual prog metal. They keep the weighting on metal, not on showing their abilities. 'Hurt' is the band's second demonsration, but you won't hear that, believe me!
The band have kept their mind's on songs, not just music. Surely, there's some insane fretboard runs from guitarist and bassist, and octopus beats from drummer (also in Malpractice) among heavy parts. It's more like Nevermore than Dream Theater, but still not quite as thrashy as the first mentioned. I hear some Alex Skolnick on 'Immortalized's guitar solo. The title track embodies calmer moments, but is actually more layered, even a bit insane at times. Definitely no easy listening! The vocals are another thing reminding me of Nevermore. They aren't similar, no, but vocalist's (also in Malpractice) way of being brave and go stretch his limits a bit, but not going too far. He is very versatile, to say the least, and skilled with his voice. Keyboard work must be mentioned too, because there's more than typical synth mat and preset sounds hear. Soundwise this demo is good, because every guys' work can be heard. And it also kicks ass.
Two pretty different songs present a skillfull band and skilled musicians. In the vocalist Aleksi Parviainen Reversion have the real gold nugget that distinguishes the band from other prog metallers. The recordings of the debut album are on the way, so remember this name! Meanwhile you can download Reversion's both demos from their website. That's not an advice, that's a behest.
