Despite reading and hearing of mixed reviews for this release, I've found it to be one of my favorite Deicide releases. I am again amazed that Steve Asheim was totally involved with the musical aspect of this album. Just like their last release, of which Steve again was in charge of the music this release rules!

Deicide's 'Legion' (1992) release remains in my opinion their best though with this new lineup I'm still confident that they have more good releases in store. It's amazing that they've now been around for 20 years! I think that if Steve remains in charge of the music their later releases will still kick ass.

Glen's vocal output is the lowest I think that it's ever been. There are some backup screams so it's not all low bellowing vox. The song's lengths are the longest they have been ever.

As for the leads on this release, they could've definitely been better though not all of them are bad. Ralph puts out the best lead outputs for sure.

Honestly, the music can be more intriguing than it was here. 'The Stench of Redemption' holds the upper hand in terms of a better musical release. That's not to say Steve didn't do a good job here. He most definitely did. It just could have been better and less monotonous.

The title track and 'Severed Ties' for me are the best songs here on this album. But overall I would not conclude that this release "sucks".
