Fuck slow? Then fucking enter Mortuary, the French band having this overused name. Who knows, they might be the original Mortuary of all Mortuarys and they are still over-speeding around the metal map. They have three albums under their belts and this is the number two.
I'm not totally right about "fast" factor here, because 'On Silent Paths' and 'Organ' (familiar old school death metal vibe here at times) actually have some slower parts in them. Please do not let those things make you pass this, all you speed freaks! Mortuary simply shred. They have managed to combine thrash metal, death metal and grindcore into one hyperactive alloy. I think it's their drummer who loves to blast the shit outta his kit, but I wouldn't let the other guys get off lightly either. I do not know what is that factor, but Mortuary sound fucking French. Must be those few Massacra stylings here and there... Mostly old Massacra, but 'On Silent Paths' includes new Massacra type oppression. At times, the band enter more eccentric spaces, hitting into their Voivod-mode. Am I hearing some Gothenburg-ish melodiy work on 'Misery'?! So, mainly fast drumming might banish some potential listeners, but Mortuary can surely ram through some varying material during these 45 minutes. The vocalist is the second monotonous element, as he shouts his way through the album, albeit with enmity and intensity. So, job accomplished. By the way, the guitars sound really biting and disruptive.
In all its speed and defiance, the album sounds pretty clear. It definitely kicks ass with its lower end, but is also well-balanced. Fuck these Photoshopped covers, they turn away any potential buyer! Thankfully there are websites with samples and shit nowadays, so people can hear the music before buying it.
'Eradicate' simply eradicates! What a fucking apt name does this album carry. Those who like to be kicked till they're numbed, this one's for you (if you can find it, that is). A fine fucking alloy of thrash, death and grindcore. Good musicianships, good compositions, good sound. Good!
