I've never heard Entera before, but they've been around since 1990. They actually have two long-players under their belts, too. Entera have suffered from revolving door policy, which seems to go on nowadays as well. The band's aim has been to find recognisable sound, which they try to do with mixing various styles together.
So, fundamentally Entera are a thrash metal band. They spice it up with some crossover stuff and some old-school heavy metal. You really can get the feeling of late 1980s and early 1990s when listening to this. 'Revocatus' is an interesting, versatile instrumental. It becomes evident, that every instrument has a big role in the band's sounds, as everything is equally audible. 'You Pull Me down' is a hard hitting song on the EP with its punky attitude, without forgetting the catchiness. 'Problems Are Like Pimples' is another hard hitter, but falls short on memorable elements. 'If Assholes Would Be Flying Pigs' begins with melodic guitar lines which soon turns into older Kreator style thrashing, but here the band manage to show some bloody annoying riffing (especially the one that begins at 1:34 point)! 'Sanguis Humanus' offer similar annoying riffage (from 15 to 55 seconds into the song), but also some nice melody work which is like from a different song when compared to the annoying bits. The band have managed to come up with some funny songtitles, but sadly they are more memorable as some of the songs, or funnier. It is all decently performed, I especially like angry shouted vocals.
Entera sound quite different to usual stuff, thanks to the use of equal levelling of all the instruments in the production. They still have a long way to work on their music, however. Some riffs simply annoy me and it isn't all too catchy. And I do not mean something like it lacks of melody, no, but it lacks of memorable riffs. However, if German stuff from late 1980s to early 1990s is what you are craving for, check out this band who create similar vibes in 21st century, this might be just for you.
