The second single from 'Brave New World' is definitely one of the best songs from the record. There's four versions of this single: A regular slimcase CD, limited edition digipak with a small poster of the fine cover and the band (mine's number 50303, so how limited is that?!), 12" picture vinyl and 7" red vinyl.
The single version of 'Out of the Silent Planet' is cut to 4:11 minutes. The album version lasts for 6:30 minutes, so the edited version is a lot shorter and the song definitely suffers from the cutting. The great intro is gone, as is some of the instrumental parts as well as some guitar solo parts too. A shame, really... I just cannot dig it, because I've heard the full version. But might work for those who are wet behind their ears. The enchanced video is okay, but its picture quality could be so much better. Material includes on it is live and backstage footage with other antics filmed on the band's "Metal 2000 Tour".
But these live versions are great, though nothing very special. They are recorded during the "Ed Hunter Tour" in 1999, Milan, Italy I think. The band sounds very energetic, as they did here in Finland, too. But I can't stop waiting for that live DVD...
This is for all you Maiden collectors, with a great artwork (especially that "press conference" picture). "Do not spend your time worrying about those wasted beers!", as it goes. And if you're a collector, then do not spend your time worrying about that wasted cash, what happens when you collect 'em all!
