Forgotten Horror is a name that kind of rings some bells, but you can't really place it... To tell the truth, this Finnish band is the sole band, that has ever carried this name. 'Demo 2007', now this I've heard before! Okay, after this lame introduction, it is time to submerge into the dark world of Forgotten Horror.
Thrashing black metal is Forgotten Horror's trade. Nought in originality. High in its infectiousness. Shredding guitars at times sounding like shrieking demon hordes are backed by a fucking heavy bass, that grumbles like a forthcoming armageddon, with thundering drums hitting the tempo of the damned, that varies from headbangable to blast beats. The songs flow like ultramagic lava. They cause lethal burns, shortly put; perfected sonic violence. The vocals remind me of something like if Satyr of Satyricon and Jeff Walker of Carcass fame were recording in a studio and accidentally their vocal tracks were piled up on same recording. It's all about riffs, beats and venomous voice. The sound is suitably raw yet the instruments can be heard well and it's not missing power.
Talking about the voice, with lyrics such as "wicked little servants dancing; frogs, owls, cats and crows; casting evil spells and laughing" you really cannot go wrong, hehe. That was born to be a legend! Anyway, the lyrics seem, more or less, probably more, hail metal music and all things evil, of course.
I wanted to write this review because the band are now recording their debut album and this demo might not be available as a free download for a very long time anymore. It was printed in 200 pieces and sold out long time ago. So, grab it from the band's official website before it is too late. This is that kind of stuff you want to listen to when you start drinking, and you listen to it until you're ready to drowse, but "come on" shouts just grab you and it all starts again. At least as long you got enough beer, that is. So reserve enough, because the album isn't ready yet...
