'Another Day of Misery' is the second demo from Finnish metallers Serenity's End. Why the hell should I write a review for an old demo? Because this is so damn good, that's why! Personally I rate this even higher than the latest output, great 'Silence in Grey' demo.
'Another Day of Misery' features four songs of melancholy-coloured metal. 'Obsolote' begins in the vein of Evergrey, but calms down with a non-distorted part. 'Born Outside's anxious beginning switches into a hellishly hummable chorus. The title track can be defined with one word: catchy. Being the most upbeat song on the demo, it features fantastic slow part with some classical guitar playing. Talk about the the rise of momentum! 'Disharmony' is a fateful ending for the demo. In the good way, that is. After All is one band which comes to my mind when listening to this song. Despite all the name-dropping, Serenity's End sound totally confident and charismatic.
The vocalist (also guitarist) Juha Simola sounds a lot like Nevermore's Warrel Dane, with hint of Charon's J-P Leppäluoto. These fellas are incredible musicians, who probably sound good even if they tapped a table with their fingers. The songs aren't only great compositions, but they are filled with elegance and nuances.
Serenity's End are destined to become greatly appraised band. I forebode them a record deal after the third demo, but still no news about that, which is a fucking miserable thing. Actually, if I had heard this second demo when it came out in 2005, I would have said the same.
