Slovenian thrash-heads Thraw return with their second demo, 'Injecting Hate'. With these four songs, they retrace the style of original Bay Area bands. It is easy to especially hear the second half of 1980s styles of Exodus, Forbidden, Testament and Vio-lence, plus thrashier bits of Death Angel.
Thraw throw good ripping riffs, beats that change from mach 3 to mid paced, octopus-fingered bass playing and angry vocals. They keep it straight, but there's plenty of meat around the bones. The vocals are manly mid register, quite monotonous output, with some rare evil shrieks. The bits work together, and that's what matters, because there's no originality here. But Thraw ape mid-to-late 1980s Bay Area thrash metal like... Hmmm... Fucking good apes! They sound soulful doing this stuff.
The demo sounds organic and every instrument is well heard. It also sounds powerful. Great job guys. But the cover ain't great job: Awful teenagey charcoal drawing, that probably turns every potential buyer away. I mean it's not 1980s style, it's just abominable!
But fuck the cover, the music is what matters. With 'Injecting Hate', Thraw offer well done old school Bay Area thrash from Slovenia. Thrash on! Yes, they do, as they have released their third demo this month...
