Northern thrash metal attack time! Intervention hail from Rovaniemi, Finland, with their third demo since their formation in 2007. The band started as a Megadeth cover band, and you can bet the playing is competent enough. Enough to stir your interest towards this?

When the lead guitarist throws short solos every now and then, it does not sound a bit forced, but like he's enjoying doing his stuff. The vocals are angry as heck at times, and also varying from grunts to clean ones, and covering a lot of ground between the two styles. The bass sounds like played with fingers, so it is loud and flapping, but also with some fast fretboard runs. The drums are as lively, too. So, this feels good time stuff, not very grave, even though music's not soft or light at all.

'The Mortal Shell of Man' is a memorable, semi-melodic piece of modern thrash meets Finnish stuff such as Diablo. 'Rattlesnake Skin and Forked Tongue' sounds as North American as its title. It starts off with slow, bluesy stuff, but hits similar higher gear as the opening track after a minute. 'Growing Line of Caskets' continues in similar vein. The songs are good enough, but probably would benefit from slight clipping of some parts. The songs include quite a lot of varying parts, but there are some not so happening bits going on at times. Soundwise this is very close to label release quality, if not just that.

The third Intervention demo is, again, a pretty strong performance from quite a young band. They kind of sound familiar but still it is hard to pinpoint any band totally. Well done, and how about the debut full length one next?!
