Last View are a young band from Stockholm, Sweden. They formed in 2008 and have released two EP's to date ('Seven' in 2008 and 'Become the Storm' in 2009) and have been named as "Best In Sweden" by Close-Up Magazine. So, they got a record deal and 'Hell in Reverse' is the band's debut album.
To me, Last View aren't among the best bands from Sweden. Not even close. The main reason to that is, that the band just recycles typical elements in their music, namely At The Gates style Swedish metal and the modern pest: Metalcore. Last View's performance is energetic, but their songs are nothing special. There are some good parts among boredom-inducing stuff; the closer 'Relieve Us' with its slower tempo actually manages to get into point. I just can't get into this, as after nice old school metal riffage and blasting tempos some chugga-chugga breakdowns happen. I'm totally bored with that breakdown shite, even though I've never found it being even close to entertaining! The vocals are typical screamo stuff, that are supposed to sound angry, but end up being nerve-racking in a wrong way. Just like those triggered kick drums, being in the front of the mix...
Cover art is fine, pretty warped. Sadly it's not depicting the music found inside. 'Hell in Reverse' is just another mediocre attempt in metalcore field with no originality. Surely, it's not the worst out there, but neither anything special.
